Detailing your vehicle and/or preparing it for a show or tour means thoroughly cleaning the vehicle inside and out to a show quality cleanliness and polish. This can, at times, include restoration or refinishing a component.
Interior detailing involves a deep cleaning of the entire interior cabin, including carpet, vinyl, leather, wood, various natural fibers, etc, all of which requires the use of an array of cleaning techniques and products. The interior surfaces are meticulously vacuumed. Upholstery stains may be removed using steam, liquid and foam chemicals as well as brushes. Nonporous surfaces are polished.
Exterior detailing involves cleaning the car's finish, chrome trim, windows, wheels and tires, as well as other visible components on a vehicle's exterior. Engine detailing is also a part of this process. A wide variety of products and techniques are used, based upon the vehicle's surface type and condition. Detergents, acid free degreaser (to break down dirt and soil), detail clay (to remove embedded contaminants), waxes, shines and polishes are used along with a variety of applicators, brushes, drying towels and chamois. Light wet sanding and buffing may be necessary to bring paint surface up to an acceptable level for show prior to waxing and polishing.
